BioBalls™ provide a textured surface area (19 square inches per BioBall™) for beneficial bacteria to colonize and grow. Aquascape BioBalls™ are the ideal filtration media for use in all biological filtration.

Atlantic's BB1500 contains 150 extremely durable, lightweight Bio-Balls that are easy to clean and reduce channeling. Each ball is 1˝ in diameter and has nearly 25 square inches of surface area for bacterial colonization.

SAVIO Springflo Bio Filter Media's performance is unmatched. Unlike copies, this patented ribbon encourages better adhesion and proliferation of bacteria using a special formulation of polypropylene and calcium carbonate. The textured surface is embossed with millions of dimples to rapidly secure and develop beneficial microorganisms. It does not clog and resists channeling and compaction in up-flow and horizontal-flow low pressure filter chambers. Negative buoyancy keeps it in place.

Simply shake it and drain the filter. Other media is prone to clogging, requiring rigorous cleaning, which disrupts healthy bacteria. SAVIO Springflo is very durable, lasting 3-5 years.

SAVIO Springflo Bio Filter Media provides enormous surface area while being light and compact. Shipping and storage is easier. Each roll contains 180 sq. ft. of surface area, suitable for up to 3 cu. ft. of filter volume.

K1 media has been used by Evolution Aqua in Koi filtration systems for a number of years. This new type of filter media, K1 Micro, contains all of the benefits of traditional K1 media but is extruded in a much smaller form. The small wheel shaped filter media pieces provide a significantly increased protected surface area per cubic metre when compared to standard K1 for bacteria to colonize. This makes K1 Micro an ideal filter media for aquariums of all types where high level biological filtration is needed. K1 Micro can also be used to replace existing filter media.

Maturing the K1 Media bio-media is important because a delicate eco-system is naturally developing for the bacteria involved in the nitrification process. K1 Media provides the maximum active surface area for the bacteria to colonize, more than other types of static media. It is this process which removes harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.

As the K1 Media moves within the filter, it causes the old dead bacteria on the outside to be displaced. This makes space for new younger heavier feeding bacteria to rapidly colonize. Within the wheel is a protected surface which enables colonies of bacteria to naturally follow their life cycle, of maturing, dying and then fueling the latter stages of the nitrification cycle. K1 Media has been designed to provide the best possible habitat for both young and mature beneficial bacterial colonies.

From time to time (rarely) beads require replacement. Especially true if you accidentally let beads out of your sludge valve on the bottom. These are the same beads as specified for your Aquadyne filter.

This bio-ribbon media is black, spiral-shaped, plastic media that is designed to filter your pond both biologically and mechanically. The large surface area of Bacti-Twist provides a place for pond debris and other waste to accumulate and convert into beneficial bacteria. This media is easy to clean and can last for years.

Sea Side Aquatics Ceramic Bio-House Media is specifically designed for Bakki Showers, Trickle Filters and Shower Filters. 10 times more effective than normal filtration by cultivating beneficial bacteria. Bio-House ceramic media is cooked at extremely high temperatures leaving behind a high porosity structure that provides optimal environments for bacteria to colonize and thrive.
